A Visit to the Art Fair

From 4 to 7 November 2010, SOFA (International Exposition of Sculpture Objects and Functional Art), the largest fair for applied arts, took place in Chicago. The Chair of the foundation took advantage of the interesting and compact survey of seventy galleries from eleven countries to meet many people and to buy new objects. On the outlook for "Emerging Artists," she acquired the object Drift by the young couple Tanya Lyons and Mathieu Grodet from Canada (ill.), who exhibited very unconventional works. Another new discovery was Kate Baker from Australia, who combines photography and glass in her subtle pieces. An installation by an "Established Artist" had just come from the furnace. Many visitors of the foundation are familiar with the ironic provocative works of Janusz Walentynowicz. They can look forward to his most recent piece! Two important exciting sculptures by Christina Bothwell were also purchased. They will be on view in the exhibition in late 2011.
