Renewal of Funding Project in Höhr-Grenzhausen and Koblenz

After three successful years of funding education and training in the area of material sciences and ceramics at various educational institutions in Höhr-Grenzhausen, the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung renews the project for another three years. Thus the University of Koblenz-Landau, Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, Fachschule für Keramiktechnik, as well as Berufsbildende Schule Montabaur will continue to receive funds for technical equipment.

Robert Rauschenberg in China

Exhibition Extended

Support of Students Working with Glass

It’s that time again: The Akademie der Bildenden Künste München opens its doors to the public on the occasion of its annual exhibition from 20 to 28 July 2019. And as in previous years, the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung supports students of the workshop for glass painting, light, and mosaics. You will find them on the ground floor of the west wing (room 28). Students from other departments will also present their current works at the annual exhibition and allow visitors to view their studios and workshops.

Evening Opening with Guided Tours
Thursday, 27 June 2019, from 2 to 8 pm
Short guided tours at 6 and 7 pm
The Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung extends its opening hours to 8 pm on Thursday, 27 June 2019 due to the immense public interest in the exhibition. Short guided tours will be offered at 6 and 7 pm. Entry is free of charge.

Support of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam

Beginning with the winter semester 2019 the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung supports the renowned Dutch art academy Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. The financial backing allows the academy to offer additional workshops by guest lecturers and to acquire necessary equipment. The support is part of a large support program that the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung initiated for glass schools as well as glass departments at art academies in late 2015. New Exhibition Has Opened!

The artist Mona Hatoum and numerous guests attended the opening of the fifteenth exhibition of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung, entitled Primary Gestures. It presents photographs of China by Robert Rauschenberg from the 1980s as well as contemporary installations of glass by Mona Hatoum, Hassan Khan, Jana Sterbak, and Terry Winters. Mona Hatoum, one of the most important contemporary women artists, is our guest at the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung. On the occasion of the foundation’s new exhibition PRIMARY GESTURES, she will talk about her oeuvre, which includes installation, sculpture, performance, video, photography, and works on paper. Her glass installation Turbulence (black) of 2014 has been acquired for the foundation’s collection and is included in the new exhibition. The interview will be conducted by Dr. Petra Giloy-Hirtz (in English).

PRIMARY GESTURES from 22 March 2019

From March 22 to August 30, 2019, the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung is presenting, under the title PRIMARY GESTURES, photographs by Robert Rauschenberg from the 1980s and contemporary installations of glass by Mona Hatoum, Hassan Khan, Jana Sterbak, and Terry Winters, all of which have been recently acquired by the foundation for its collection.

Photo Series for the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich

Thanks to the generous support of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung, the Pinakothek der Moderne is able to acquire an important work for its photography collection. The spectacular purchase of the famous series The Brown Sisters by the photographer Nicholas Nixon adds an iconic work to the collection of the Pinakothek der Moderne. The series of forty-four photographs has long since been on the wish list of Dr. Inka Graeve Ingelmann, director of the Collection of Photography and New Media. To make that possible, the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung is covering the entire cost of the purchase.
