Videos Offer Interesting Insights Beyond the Duration of the Exhibition

The exhibition About Us. Young Photography from China will unfortunately not reopen due to the measures still in place to limit the spread of Covid-19. However, the seven short videos that the foundation has produced to accompany the exhibition are available on the website beyond the duration of the exhibition.

On the occasion of the current exhibition About Us. Young Photography from China, the platform Photography of China has published an interview with Dr. Eva-Maria Fahrner-Tutsek, chairwoman of the board of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung. In conversation with the art historian and Chinese photography expert Marine Cabos-Brullé, she speaks about the work of the foundation and shares some of her favourite works from the collection.

The third and last exhibition of the series Photography Today, which is supported by the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung, was realized in the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. Under the title Resistant Faces, the exhibition inquires into the state of the portrait in the digital age. It presents a collection of fourteen critical approaches to both visuality and reality from contemporary photography, including a work by the Norwegian artist Frida Orupabo. The work was made available on loan from the collection of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung.

Due to the current Corona measures, the exhibition About Us. Young Photography from China is unfortunately still closed. However, we hope that the developments will allow for a soon reopening in the New Year. In order to give as many people as possible the opportunity to see the impressive works of a total of 14 young artists from China, the exhibition will be extended until 26 February 2021.

Young Photography from China, we are pleased to invite you a to a conversation with Dr. Franziska Kunze, the new Head of Photography and Media Art at the Pinakothek der Moderne. The photography and art historian, who has taken over Dr. Inka Graeve Ingelmann’s position at the beginning of August this year, will be joined by the curator Dr. Petra Giloy-Hirtz to discuss questions of contemporary photography.
