Funding for the Pinakotek der Moderne
Acquisition of Photographs

Supporting contemporary photography is one of the areas in the funding priority art of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung. Accordingly, the foundation supported the Pinakothek der Moderne in purchasing two important contemporary photographs: two works by the American artist Zoe Leonard for the Sammlung Fotografie und Neue Medien (Collection of Photography and New Media).

Zoe Leonard (born in 1961 in New York) works with the media of photography and installation. In her works she investigates central issues of our times: She describes the consequences of globalization in the way we see ourselves and reflects our attitude towards nature and history. Furthermore she addresses gender and political subjects such as colonialism, exploitation, and expulsion.
