Stan Douglas, an important contemporary photographer, is the recipient of the Hasselblad Award in Photography in 2016. The Hasselblad Award, bestowed by the foundation of the same name in Gothenburg, Sweden, is endowed with the equivalent of EUR 110,000. The former professor of media studies addresses in his photo and video works social issues such as race, gender, identity, and post-colonial politics. The subject of his work Abbott & Cordova, 7 August 1971, which belongs to the collection of the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung, is political in nature.
